Tiny Tycoon is now available on Google Chrome!
About 2 months ago, my brother and I decided to develop a “cookie clicker” game called Cookie Tycoon. During development, we used this time to learn VueJS and ended up making a really fun game.
I loved the idea so much that I decided to make my own 3D version called “Tiny Tycoon”. I wanted to make a game that was more graphically driven than a single cookie on the screen, so I decided to use ThreeJS to create the 3D world.
Early in development, I discovered a 3D preprocessing library called “RenderPixelatedPass” which was developed by Kody King, inspired by t3ssel8r. This library creates the illusion of 2D, while retaining all the functionality and performance of ThreeJS. This magically makes all my 3D artwork looks like a classic tycoon game.
I made it a goal to develop this game as quick as possible to avoid feature fatigue. With this mentality, I successfully finished the game within 1 month and launched it on the Google Chrome Webstore. I am so excited with how it turned out and look forward to making more games with this new mindset.
